Data Scope

Both the MCP and REST API Servers provide the following data:

  • Monthly Weather: Historical monthly weather summaries from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) NCEI (National Centers for Environmental Information) Data Service Application Programming Interface (API).
  • Daily Weather: Historical daily weather summaries from NOAA NCEI Data Service API.
  • Hourly Weather: Hourly weather observations from the NOAA NCEI Global Historical Climatology Network hourly (GHCNh) dataset and the NOAA NCEI Integrated Surface Database (ISD) dataset via the NOAA NCEI Data Service API.
  • Severe Weather: Mesocyclone (supercell thunderstorm), tornado vortex signatures, hail signatures, and storm structures from the NOAA Severe Weather Data Inventory (SWDI) API.
  • Tropical Cyclone: NOAA National Hurricane Center (NHC) HURDAT2 tropical cyclone impact analysis. Includes all of the following: hurricane, tropical storm, subtropical storm, tropical depression, subtropical depression, extratropical cyclone, low-pressure system, and non-tropical disturbance.
